Season’s eatings

Have we got a bumper Christmas market for you – a full-to-bursting 48 stalls in all (check here for the full list) with lots of seasonal specials and offers!

Avlaki have the perfect gifts for foodies – small and large presentation boxes of their olive oils bottled straight from the fruit; Bee Inspired are popping their award-winning creams into complimentary Liberty print cotton bags, complete with gift tags; GingerQ’s exquisite iced ginger biscuits with Christmas themes will make ideal stocking fillers or tree decorations; Homi’s Herbal Teas are selling their own mulled wine sachets and hot spiced drinks; Hunts Hill Farm have been making their special seasonal sausages – pork, Stilton & celery and pork & cranberry chipolatas; La Crepe de Delices is offering their festive sugar and cinnamon crepe for a bargain 50p off; Lloyds of Kew will have a fine selection of vintage volumes for hard-to-please booklovers; Meadowsweet Flowers have gorgeous ways to deck your halls, tables and front doors with wreaths, decorations and cheery bulb planters (and are taking bespoke orders too); back by public demand for her so-moreish spiced nuts, The Nutty Lady makes a very welcome return; and Ringden Farm has been brewing a festive apple and cinnamon drink to heat as a delicious alcohol-free alternative to punch.

Also we’ll be saying happy Christmas to another five local charities: David Linnette (wearing his hat of KVM Chair rather than Richmond Mayor) will be presenting cheques to: Kew Neighbourhood Association, £500 towards their 40th anniversary celebrations; Kew Sparkle, £1000 to help pay for the Christmas lights in the village; REACT, £1000 for educational aids to help the families of children with life-limiting illness; Richmond Carers Centre, £500 towards tablet computers to help train unpaid carers; and Richmond Music Trust, £1000 for music lessons for disadvantaged children. Which all adds up to £4000 – bringing the total to £40,000 given away to local charities since the market started in 2011. We feel pretty pleased and proud about that.

Not that the good cheer stops there! There’ll be live music pretty well all day, with The Avenue Club Choir singing carols to get us into the Christmas spirit, the brilliant Richmond Youth Jazz Band treating us to their cool sounds and the ever-popular Elastic Band making merry with their singalong musicals covers.

Happy Christmas market – and God bless us, every one!

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 4th December

from 10am to 2pm

PS Please note that we’ll be taking a break over the new year – the first market of 2017 will be on Sunday 5th February.
