…first of the month – and don’t forget that this Sunday will be Kew Village Market day! So why not stroll on round for a sociable shop and pick up all your foodie treats?
We’ve three new-to-Kew stalls this month: Mud Foods (whose products, we’re assured, are a lot more delicious than their name) will be there with their multi-award-winning pies and pasties, quiches and sausage rolls; Aroma Organics will be offering gluten- and additive-free sauces, chutneys and marmalades; while on the craft side Louison d’Or will be selling their stylish, original range of coated cotton bags, accessories and children’s clothes.
It seems like only yesterday that we were welcoming Bang Curry but Shelly Nuruzzaman has just reminded us that this June sees her first anniversary with KVM. Shelly’s fantastic curry spice mixes (blended to her Bangladeshi family recipes) have a devoted following among our market regulars and in the last year that success has been the springboard for so much more – her products are now stocked in a host of independent local food stores, with the promise of wider distribution to come.
At 11am we’ll be handing out more cheques to local good causes: the Kew Scout Group will receive £478 to buy an event tent and five storage boxes for camping; and Silver Birches Care Home will have £480 for various aids to help residents with communication disabilities.
Finally, this month’s music comes courtesy of King Ralph, an acoustic trio based in West London who play mostly Ralph Brookfield’s original material – punk in the style of folk music. They’ll be joined on Sunday by flautist Keith Waite so their set will have a sunny Guyanese flavour – to match the weather, hopefully…
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 1st June from 10am to 2pm!
