See you this Sunday?
Don’t be caught out by the calendar – 1st September falls on this coming Sunday. That means it’ll be market day and before you make out your shopping list click here to check out the great range of quality food and craft stalls attending.
There’ll be music too from the brilliantly named U-Kew-Lele Orchestra who’ll be strumming anything from Greensleeves to Mamma Mia (with an age range of 16 to 60 they’re not, they say, too rock’n’roll!). In fact six months ago most were beginners – the Orchestra grew out of leader Terry Smith’s ‘From Zero to Uke Hero’ course at Ritz Music in Richmond (the next course will be in October).
The music sets will be at around 11.30 and 12.30, and at midday the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Meena Bond will be presenting cheques to local charities: Contact the Elderly will receive £640 to help recruitment and training for the Richmond and Barnes groups; and Integrated Neurological Services will get a grant of £1000 towards an specialist exercise bicycle for clients to use to promote muscular strength. Kew Village Market is of course run entirely by volunteers and all the operating profits go to local good causes. If there’s a charity you would like to see benefit, please see the Charity page of our website.
Finally, if you enjoy Kew Village Market and haven’t yet voted for it as the People’s Choice, do please do so now by going to www.richmondbusinessawards. Winning would be such a thrill – but to be in with a chance we really need your vote!
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 1st September
from 10am to 2pm
